JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Jakarta Public Works Department targets the completion of land acquisition for the through road project from Kalibata to Poltangan, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta, this year.

Head of the Jakarta Public Works Department Heru Suwondo stated that the land acquisition is being processed by the National Land Agency (BPN) in South Jakarta.

Once the acquisition is completed by BPN, the Public Works Department will proceed with the road widening project.

However, if the land acquisition is not finished by mid-year, Heru said the road construction project would only resume next year.

“But we hope the acquisition can be carried out by mid-year with payments, as the funds for Pasar Minggu are still available,” he said.

The project began during the leadership of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok). However, up to now, there has been no visible progress.

According to residents, the project has not been continued due to incomplete land acquisition.

In particular, in RW 007, residents are facing administrative issues from the RT side, whose members have already moved because they were also affected by the land acquisition.

“This has now become the second generation from the original owners. So there are issues with inheritance rights, disputes, and all sorts of complications,” said one resident, Amira (36), when met at the location on Thursday.

Residents are actually not opposed to being asked to move from there. However, they consider the compensation amount inadequate.

Now, residents can only wait until the funds for land acquisition are disbursed so they can move from there.

Previously, the Head of Data and Information Centre of the Jakarta Public Works Department, Siti Dinar Wenny, stated that the through road construction would continue after the land acquisition process is completed.

By the end of 2025, 59 out of a total of 118 land parcels have been successfully acquired, while the rest are still in process.

“The construction will continue after the land acquisition process is finished. 59 land parcels are still in process,” Wenny said in her statement on Thursday (24/4/2026).
