Lancang Kuning Yellow Operation in Riau Officially Begins to Support 2026 Eid Holiday Travel
Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026 commenced on Friday, 13 March through 25 March 2026. This was announced during the Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026 assembly held at the yard of the Riau Governor’s Office on Thursday, 12 March.
The operation was implemented as a security measure in preparation for and during the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. The operation involved various security personnel comprising the National Police, Armed Forces, and related agencies.
This measure was undertaken to ensure security, order, and smooth flow of outbound and return traffic during the Eid holiday period in Riau Province. Operation Ketupat is a routine agenda implemented annually ahead of Eid al-Fitr. Security focus covers transportation routes, crowded areas, places of worship, and other vital objects.
Beyond regulating traffic flow, officers also provided services to the public during the Eid travel period. This was done to provide a sense of security and comfort for those travelling.
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026 was implemented in an integrated manner involving various related agencies. He emphasised that personnel readiness and supporting facilities were important factors in the success of Eid al-Fitr security operations.
“Through the implementation of Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026, we hope all personnel can carry out duties professionally and provide humanitarian services to the public. Thus, the security and order situation during the Eid al-Fitr celebration can be well maintained,” he said.
Meanwhile, Riau Provincial Regional Secretary Syahrial Abdi stated that the Riau Provincial Government fully supported the implementation of Operation Ketupat Lancang Kuning 2026 to ensure smooth outbound and return travel during Eid. He also emphasised the importance of synergy between the regional government and security forces in maintaining a conducive situation.
“The Riau Provincial Government is ready to work in synergy and fully support the implementation of this operation so that people can undertake their holiday travel and celebrate Eid al-Fitr safely, comfortably, and smoothly,” he concluded.
Operation Ketupat Jaya 2026 in the Bekasi Metro Police jurisdiction involved 1,238 combined personnel from the National Police, Armed Forces, regional government, and several related agencies.
Throughout Indonesia, Operation Ketupat 2026 will secure 185,607 objects, including mosques, terminals, ports, and airports.
Operation Ketupat 2026 was implemented nationally for 13 days, from 13 to 25 March.
The Cianjur Police deployed various vehicles to mobilise personnel during the operation.
South Japek Toll II will be opened functionally from 15 March 2026 to ease congestion at KM 66.
These posts served not only as rest areas and public facilities for holiday travellers, but also as information centres for alternative routes and disaster-prone areas.
