Lanal Palu Deploys Task Force and Builds Emergency Post in Sigi Following Earthquake

Makassar - The Regional Naval Command (Kodaeral) VI, through the Indonesian Navy Base (Lanal) Palu, moved swiftly to deploy a Disaster Response Task Force (Satgas) and build an emergency post in the earthquake-affected area of Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. Commander of Lanal Palu, Marine Colonel M. Ali Wardana, stated on Wednesday that a magnitude 6.7 earthquake shook the region on Tuesday (16/6). “The Task Force team headed to one of the worst-hit points, namely Sigi Biromaru District, carrying emergency equipment and infrastructure, logistics, and a field health team,” he said. Colonel Ali Wardana conveyed that upon arrival in the disaster-affected area of Sigi Biromaru Regency, the Lanal Palu Disaster Response Task Force immediately set up emergency tents and provided emergency aid to residents in need. In the emergency situation following the earthquake, the need for health services and clean water became the top priority. Anticipating this, the Indonesian Navy’s Lanal Palu directly integrated its services in the field to help restore the condition of the community. “For the time being, we have provided health examination facilities in cooperation with relevant agencies in the affected area. Additionally, we have also provided a clean water tanker truck to serve the basic needs of residents in the evacuation shelters,” he explained. The Commander of Lanal Palu also affirmed the Indonesian Navy’s full commitment to remain on the front line in assisting the community during this emergency response period. Residents were urged not to hesitate to utilise the facilities provided by the Navy. “We will always be ready to assist residents affected by this earthquake disaster. We urge the community around the Sigi Biromaru Regency area, if they need health services or other emergency assistance, to immediately come to the Natural Disaster Response Post of the Indonesian Navy Base Palu,” he stated. This emergency response action carried out by Kodaeral VI Lanal Palu is a tangible manifestation of the daily orders of the Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL), Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, that the presence of Navy personnel must provide real benefits and become a solution amidst the community’s difficulties.
