Lampung's '98 Activists Back Prabowo on Resource Management and Anti-Corruption

The Keluarga Besar Eksponen 98 Lampung, comprising activists from the 1998 reform movement, has expressed support for President Prabowo Subianto’s administration in eradicating corruption and managing natural resources to enhance public welfare. One of the initiators of the 98 Resolution Network, Suprianto, stated that the reform struggle is not over and must ensure social justice is felt by all Indonesians. He noted that realising social justice and equitable welfare remains a major task, and the spirit of reform must be upheld in accordance with the mandate of the 1945 Constitution. The group is working to ensure that President Prabowo’s policies align with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution regarding the management of strategic resources for the people’s prosperity. They view government programmes on anti-corruption, natural resource management, state budget efficiency, and the establishment of Danantara for state-owned enterprise restructuring as potential foundations for a just national economy. Programmes such as the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih and free nutritious meals were cited as evidence of the government’s commitment to improving the people’s economy. Meanwhile, Abu Hasan, a representative of the group, stressed that their support does not diminish their commitment to providing criticism and safeguarding democracy. He expressed hope that criticism would be constructive, data-driven, and offer alternative solutions. Fellow representative Cahyalana added that anti-corruption efforts must be strengthened and that recovered state assets should be returned to the people through welfare programmes. The group called on students, academics, and civil society organisations to oversee the implementation of government programmes to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to constitutional mandates.
