Lampung University Opens Registration for 2027–2031 Rector Candidates
Lampung University (Unila) has officially opened the registration for prospective rector candidates for the 2027–2031 period, with applications accepted from 14 August to 4 September 2026. The process is part of a structured leadership succession at the higher education institution. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akib, S.H., M.Hum., Chair of the Unila Rector Election Committee, stated that the selection stages have been prepared with a focus on objectivity, transparency, accountability, and freedom from conflicts of interest. He noted that the candidate screening phase began on 27 July 2026 and will run until 14 September 2026. The committee, together with the Unila Senate leadership, is committed to conducting all stages in an orderly, professional, and integral manner. Preparations commenced with a Senate plenary meeting that established and published Senate regulations regarding the procedures and rules for the rector election. During the registration period, prospective candidates can download various forms from the official election website, pilrek.unila.ac.id. Registration and document submission must be carried out directly by the candidates and cannot be represented. The committee has prepared 13 forms to support the administrative selection process, including a registration application, curriculum vitae, a statement of willingness to stand as a candidate and not withdraw, a record of managerial experience, an integrity pact, and various declarations concerning discipline, criminal records, plagiarism, commitment to advancing Unila, and the validity of data and documents. Health examinations for candidates are scheduled from 4 to 14 September 2026, covering physical and mental health, as well as screening for narcotics, precursors, and other addictive substances. These examinations will be conducted at Dr. H. Abdul Moeloek Regional Hospital and the Lampung Regional Mental Hospital, accompanied by the committee. The administrative selection process will take place from 15 to 21 September 2026. Should the number of applicants meeting the requirements be fewer than four, the registration and selection period may be extended from 22 to 30 September 2026. The results of the administrative selection will be submitted to the Senate on 7 October 2026, ratified during a Senate meeting on 14 October 2026, and publicly announced on 15 October 2026. The screening phase will continue in October 2026 with the presentation of vision, mission, and work programmes, the drawing of candidate numbers, socialisation to faculties, and the delivery of work programmes before the academic community. Following this, the Senate will determine three rector candidates to be forwarded to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology on 30 October 2026. The final selection by the Senate and the Ministry is scheduled for November to December 2026, with the elected rector to be appointed and inaugurated on 18 January 2027, subject to the ministry’s agenda.
