Lampung Provincial Government Supports Global Access for the Younger Generation
The Lampung Provincial Government has affirmed its support for opening access for the younger generation to seize global opportunities. This support was expressed by Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal during the Halal Bihalal event and the send-off for Nusadaya Academy students in the internship programme in Taiwan, held at Nusadaya Academy on Tuesday, 21 April 2026.
The Lampung Provincial Government’s support is manifested through strengthening vocational education, providing affordable language training, and facilitating funding for departures. In this way, Lampung’s younger generation will have the readiness and competitiveness to penetrate the international job market.
“We from the Lampung Provincial Government are also encouraging vocational education so that what is learned in school truly matches the needs of the job market. Today, there is a programme called migrant vocational in schools, there is a vocational programme. I am also continuously encouraging educational institutions, all language centres—I am pushing them to offer classes, and most importantly, they must be cheap,” said Rahmat.
The Lampung Provincial Government targets sending around 1,000 high school graduates abroad after undergoing language training. This number will be gradually increased.
“In banking too, I am encouraging how to provide bridging funds for our migrant workers, and insya Allah, we target this year there will be nearly possibly 1,000 people that we will send from high school level out of 7,500 that we train in language over a year. Our target for Japan alone in the next 2-3 years might be 10 to 15 thousand people sent to Japan each year,” he stated.
Rahmat views this send-off as a moment that can be a source of pride for the people of Lampung because it once again sends the younger generation to gain experience at the international level while bringing good name to the region.
Lampung has great potential in terms of human resources (HR). With around 71 percent of the population in the productive age group, this province has significant demographic strength to drive development. However, he highlighted the still limited capacity of higher education, which can only accommodate around 10 percent of high school/vocational high school graduates each year.
The Governor emphasised the importance of improving HR quality as the key to regional and national progress. He reminded that the wealth of natural resources will not mean anything without being supported by superior and characterful HR.
In the global context, Rahmat explained that many advanced countries like Japan and Taiwan are currently experiencing labour shortages due to the end of their demographic bonus. This situation opens up great opportunities for Indonesian workers, including those from Lampung, to fill those needs.
“What is needed is not only technical abilities, but also character. Indonesian HR is known to be friendly, adaptive, and have a good work ethic. This is an advantage that must be maintained,” he said.
He also affirmed that the people of Lampung have strong character resulting from a blend of cultures that have been built for a long time, such as the spirit of gotong royong and the value of “Piil Pesenggiri”. These characters are seen as important capital in competing on the global stage.
Rahmat hopes that the students who depart will not only act as internship participants, but also as ambassadors for the region and the nation. He emphasised the importance of maintaining attitude and behaviour while abroad because it will reflect Indonesia’s image in the eyes of the world.
“Be the best representation of Indonesia. If you show good quality and attitude, then opportunities for the next generation will be even more open,” he said.
After completing this programme, said Rahmat, the students should be able to contribute to regional development, especially in strategic sectors like tourism and hospitality that are developing in Lampung.
Meanwhile, Director of Nusadaya Academy Radep Riyantoro explained that students from this programme will undergo internships as well as studies for approximately 18 months in Taiwan. While there, they will remain active student status and gain international work experience.
“Students not only learn, but also gain global experience, strengthening foreign languages like English and Mandarin, and readiness to become world-class HR,” he said.
Radep added that after completing the programme, students will return to Indonesia to complete their studies and are expected to contribute to regional development, especially in strategic sectors like tourism and hospitality that are developing in Lampung.
He also advised the participants to maintain the good name of the region, nation, and alma mater while undergoing the programme abroad. “You are going there for studies, cultural exchange, learning, and taking good benefits that can be applied in Indonesia later,” he said.
