Lampung Provincial Government Strengthens Synergy Between Farmers and Industry

Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal of Lampung has reaffirmed the Lampung Provincial Government’s commitment to strengthening synergy between government, farmers, and industry operators to maintain the sustainability of the cassava ecosystem in the province.

The Governor made this statement whilst attending a networking event with National Tapioca Industry Entrepreneurs held at Hotel Santika on Wednesday, 11 March 2026. He emphasised that during his first year in office, the Lampung Provincial Government has focused on accelerating and synchronising the efforts of all stakeholders to restructure tapioca industry management in a more equitable manner.

“Over this past year, we have continued to learn and work diligently to align our efforts in protecting, designing, and stabilising the cassava ecosystem in Lampung Province,” said Governor Mirza.

He explained that Lampung plays a strategic role in supporting national food sovereignty and industry, given that approximately 70 per cent of the nation’s tapioca industry is concentrated in the province. This significant potential, according to him, must be managed with appropriate policies and regulations to deliver optimal benefits to both the community and the business sector.

“Lampung is an extraordinarily wealthy region. However, this wealth must be managed properly so that it truly translates into prosperity for the people and, simultaneously, provides healthy growth for the business world,” he stressed.

As a demonstration of commitment to the community, the Lampung Provincial Government has established policies through the setting of cassava prices regulated in a gubernatorial regulation (Pergub). This policy is expected to create a balance between farmer welfare and the operational sustainability of the tapioca processing industry.

Governor Mirza also expressed appreciation for the tapioca industry operators, whom he considered cooperative in supporting these policies. According to him, the revival of the agricultural sector can only be realised through the alignment of three principal pillars: the business sector as the industry driver, the community as production actors, and the government as regulator.

In addition to price regulation, the Lampung Provincial Government is promoting productivity improvements through the optimisation of the Cassava Center. This research centre is projected to become a hub for developing superior seed varieties and modern cultivation methods with involvement from academics and industry practitioners.

“We protect the cassava ecosystem of Lampung together. Cassava and tapioca are our pride. If farmers become more prosperous and industry advances further, then Lampung’s economy will become stronger and reach greater heights,” he concluded.
