Lampung Provincial Government Strengthens Support for Farmers

The Lampung Provincial Government is continuing to optimise the agricultural sector and improve the welfare of local farmers through the acceleration of modernisation and downstream processing programmes. This was stated by Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal after conducting a field inspection and simulation of modern technology using a drone to spray liquid organic fertiliser in the rice fields of Pangkal Mas Village, Mesuji Timur District, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. During a face-to-face dialogue with local farmer groups, the Governor expressed appreciation for the successful implementation of the biological liquid organic fertiliser, which has demonstrably boosted residents’ harvests. On a total rice field area of approximately 1,000 hectares in the region, total grain production surged from 5,000 tonnes to 7,000 tonnes. “So, if the entire 1,000 hectares is utilised, production has increased from 5,000 tonnes to 7,000 tonnes. There is an additional IDR 1.4 billion to be distributed to farmers across the village,” the Governor said. Seeing these impressive results, the Provincial Government has instructed relevant agencies and district governments to push for an increase in the planting index from two harvests to three harvests per year. The Governor called for solid synergy between village officials and technical agencies to ensure this year’s accelerated planting targets are achieved optimally. Responding to farmers’ complaints regarding rat infestations that often hinder increased planting cycles, the Provincial Government moved quickly to provide both short-term and long-term tactical solutions. Through the agriculture agency, the government distributed a quarter-tonne of sulphur for emergency handling and planned the construction of owl houses as a long-term mitigation measure. “This year we are trying for three harvests. We will provide the owl houses and the sulphur. Let’s work together and use the liquid organic fertiliser,” the Governor said. Meanwhile, representatives of the Pangkal Mas farming community expressed gratitude for the local government’s tangible support, which has significantly reduced the operational costs of rice cultivation. Thanks to the liquid organic fertiliser technology programme, farmers’ production costs have been drastically cut from hundreds of thousands of rupiah to just tens of thousands of rupiah per hectare. Farmers also expressed hope that the provincial government would facilitate regular laboratory testing for their locally produced rice, which has been grown without chemical pesticides since 2014, to increase its economic value and market price. “We ask the Governor to facilitate our aspirations for our rice, because organic farming has a price advantage. Thank you for the liquid organic fertiliser technology, which is very beneficial and reduces our food production costs. We hope that under Mr. Rahmat Mirzani Djausal’s leadership, Lampung will become a national food barn,” a farmer representative said. In addition to improving the organic farming sector and integrated pest control, the Governor affirmed that the Provincial Government is attentive to the aspirations of the Mesuji community regarding smooth regional economic accessibility, including a commitment to accelerate the improvement of main road infrastructure in the area.
