Lampung Provincial Government Improves Road Infrastructure in Central Lampung
Governor of Lampung, Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, directly inspected the progress of road repairs in Central Lampung Regency on Friday, 3 April 2026. The Lampung Provincial Government continues to ensure that infrastructure development proceeds smoothly.
According to the governor, road construction is not merely a physical project but a long-term investment in the welfare of residents. “Good roads will increase the value of agricultural produce, facilitate distribution, and support community social activities, such as access to schools and places of worship,” he stated.
Damaged roads have long been one of the main complaints from Lampung’s residents. Therefore, the government is targeting major repairs, including nearly 200 kilometres of provincial roads in 2026. In Central Lampung, which serves as a connectivity axis for the region, the road stability rate is targeted to increase from 89 per cent to 98 per cent this year.
The Head of the Provincial Public Works and Construction Department, M. Taufiqulloh, explained that the repaired sections are vital routes with high mobility. Economic activities in the area are supported by major markets such as Kalirejo, Bangunrejo, and Poncowarno, as well as the agricultural and plantation sectors. In addition, there are small-scale mining activities and building materials industries that increase heavy vehicle traffic. “Due to the high vehicle tonnage, the road construction is designed to be stronger for durability,” he said.
The total handling of these three sections covers about 17 kilometres, consisting of Kalirejo–Bangun Rejo for approximately 6 kilometres, Padang Ratu–Kalirejo for approximately 7 kilometres, and Padang Ratu–Pekurun Udik for approximately 4 kilometres.
Construction is carried out using a combination of rigid concrete and asphalt, adjusted to soil conditions and traffic loads. In addition, a comprehensive drainage system is being built, including side channels, culverts, and water flow normalisation to prevent ponding, which often causes road damage.
The governor emphasised the importance of maintaining construction quality. He stressed that the roads are built with public funds, so they must be constructed with full responsibility. “If quality is not maintained, the roads can deteriorate quickly and harm the public again. We want these roads to be truly durable and provide long-term benefits,” he said.
He also highlighted the importance of regular road maintenance, including keeping drainage and water channels clean to avoid new damage. Now, changes are beginning to be felt. Roads that were once muddy and full of potholes are gradually transforming into decent, safe, and comfortable access.
For the residents of Central Lampung, this is not just about development but about the arrival of new hope—a hope for a better, smoother, and more prosperous life. Joyful expressions could not be hidden from the locals as they witnessed the road repairs they had long desired finally coming to fruition. On the Bangun Rejo–Kalirejo, Padang Ratu–Kalirejo, and Padang Ratu–Pekurun Udik sections, the presence of the Lampung Provincial Government feels tangible in the midst of community life.
For the residents, roads are not just infrastructure; they are the lifeline of life, where hopes are pinned—from children going to school to farmers transporting their harvests.
Sri (53), a resident of Pekon Kaliwungu, Kalirejo, could not hide her gratitude. For years, she had directly witnessed the severely damaged road conditions. “The road was badly damaged before, for a long time, maybe about five years. When it rained, it was muddy and hard to pass; many people fell. We even tried to repair it ourselves minimally,” she said. Now, the increasingly smooth road brings new hope. Community activities have become smoother, especially in transporting garden produce that is their livelihood.
The same sentiment was expressed by Nur (42), a resident of Pekon Sri Basuki. She directly felt the significant change from the road repairs. “Now travel is faster and safer. I’m most pleased because the children can go to school more comfortably,” she said.
The Head of Pekon Kaliwungu, Umi Kulsum, also appreciated the Lampung Provincial Government, particularly Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal. “This road has been damaged for a long time, even through several governors, but it hasn’t received optimal repairs. Now it will be built with concrete, and we are very grateful and thankful,” she said.
