Lampung Province has once again achieved a proud milestone at the national level. According to official data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Lampung Provincial Government recorded a year-on-year inflation rate of 1.94 per cent in May 2026, making it the lowest in Indonesia.

This figure is well below the national inflation rate, which was recorded at 3.08 per cent. This achievement positions Lampung as the province with the best inflation control performance nationwide during this period.

Information regarding this achievement was shared via the social media of the Lampung Provincial Inspectorate, which participated in the Regional Inflation Control Supervision Coordination Meeting alongside local government officials and relevant agencies. In its update, the Lampung Provincial Inspectorate presented data showing Lampung’s position as the region with the lowest annual inflation rate in Indonesia for May 2026.

“This achievement reflects the effectiveness of the inflation control measures implemented by the Lampung Provincial Government together with the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID), through the strengthening of cross-sector coordination, monitoring of the supply and prices of basic necessities, and various efforts to ensure the smooth distribution of goods throughout the region,” the Lampung Provincial Inspectorate stated on Monday (8/6/2026).

Lampung’s achievement of the lowest inflation nationally serves as evidence that synergy between the local government, TPID, vertical agencies, business actors, and the community is functioning well. Maintained price stability provides certainty for the public and supports regional economic growth.

During the Regional Inflation Control Supervision Coordination Meeting, the Secretary of the Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Bachril Bakri, explained that national inflation dynamics in May 2026 were still influenced by the food, beverage, and tobacco expenditure group. “Nevertheless, several regions were able to control price pressures effectively, including Lampung Province,” he explained.

This success is also reflected in the performance of regencies and cities within the Lampung region. East Lampung Regency recorded a year-on-year inflation of 1.88 per cent, making it one of the regions with the lowest inflation rates in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Bandar Lampung City managed to maintain annual inflation at a level of 1.79 per cent, placing it among the top 10 cities with the most controlled inflation nationally.

This positive performance demonstrates that inflation control is occurring not only at the provincial level but is also supported by the commitment of regency and city governments to maintain supply balance, smooth distribution, and the affordability of basic commodity prices. Through these achievements, all inflation-calculated areas in Lampung Province successfully kept the inflation rate within the target range set by the Central Government, which is between 1.5 per cent and 3.5 per cent.
