Lampung Police Destroy Narcotics and Illegal Firearms Evidence
The Lampung Regional Police (Polda Lampung) held a destruction ceremony for seized narcotics and illegal firearms at the Presisi Multipurpose Building in Lampung on Wednesday. The event was led by Lampung Police Chief Inspector General Helfi Assegaf and attended by Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal, Regional Military Commander Major General Christomei Sianturi, and representatives from the prosecutor’s office, high court, National Narcotics Agency, Customs and Excise, the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency, and the Quarantine Agency.
Inspector General Helfi Assegaf explained that Lampung’s strategic geographical position as the gateway between Sumatra and Java makes it highly vulnerable to drug trafficking. He reaffirmed the police’s commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita programme, particularly in strengthening legal reform and eradicating narcotics. ‘Drugs are a common enemy that destroys the future of our nation’s generation, so they must not be given any space in Bumi Ruwa Jurai,’ he stated.
Beyond the narcotics threat, the police chief highlighted the prevalence of conventional crimes involving homemade firearms. He urged the public to voluntarily surrender any such weapons to prevent their misuse. During the period from January to July 2026, Polda Lampung uncovered 29 narcotics cases, leading to 35 arrests. The destroyed evidence included 119.1 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 58.2 kilograms of cannabis, 35,166 ecstasy pills, 19,996 happy five pills, 4,484 etomidate pills, and 2,500 grams of liquid etomidate, with a total estimated economic value of IDR 264.9 billion. The police estimate this operation saved approximately 829,266 lives from potential drug abuse.
In addition to the narcotics destruction, the police received 166 voluntarily surrendered illegal firearms along with 114 rounds of ammunition, comprising 147 short-barrelled and 19 long-barrelled homemade weapons. Inspector General Helfi praised the community’s increased awareness and participation in maintaining security. He encouraged the public to use the Siger Presisi application or the police 110 service to report suspected drug abuse or illegal firearm possession. The event concluded with the symbolic destruction of evidence using an incinerator, demonstrating a joint commitment to creating a safe and orderly Lampung free from the threats of narcotics and illegal firearms.
