Lampung land rehab begins this month
BANDAR LAMPUNG, Lampung: A band of 1,000 people will soon begin replanting on 3,200 hectares of disused land in the province.
"Their activities will include raising seedlings and tree planting," Lampung forestry office head, Sjamsuddin Rachmat, explained yesterday.
The program, expected to be focused in the northern and western areas of the province, will likely begin in the middle of this month.
Antara reported that most of the workers would be hired from the local community and paid a daily wage. The wage rate was not disclosed.
Sjamsuddin attributed most of the land devastation damage to human activity. (mds)
