Lampung Irrigation Rehabilitated, Food Production Targeted to Surge
PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero) is advancing national food resilience through the construction of the Main Irrigation Network Rehabilitation Project for Regional Irrigation Area (D.I) Local Authority Package 2 in Lampung Province. The project, located in Suoh Subdistrict, West Lampung Regency, focuses on enhancing irrigation services for the agricultural sector.
Company Secretary of PT Brantas Abipraya (Persero), Dian Sovana, stated that the irrigation rehabilitation project aims to boost community agricultural productivity while strengthening sustainable water resource management. “This is intended to support local community agricultural productivity while reinforcing sustainable water resource management,” said Dian in a written statement in Jakarta on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Dian explained that the company emphasises construction that not only focuses on quality but also delivers direct benefits to the community. Through this irrigation network rehabilitation, water distribution to agricultural lands is expected to become more optimal, efficient, and equitable, thereby increasing farmers’ harvests.
The rehabilitation project covers work on several irrigation areas, namely D.I Rawa Kalong, D.I Way Haru Sekunyir Intake 1, D.I Way Haru Sekunyir Intake 2, and D.I Way Samang. The total length of treatment reaches 14,100 metres, with an irrigation service area of 1,102.68 hectares. Dian assessed that this project is crucial for improving the reliability of the irrigation system, which had previously declined due to damage to channels and water structures.
“The scope of work includes preparation work, implementation of the Construction Safety Management System (SMKK), channel work, lining work, and rehabilitation of division structures, intakes, and intake divisions,” said Dian.
Dian added that all work is carried out with attention to construction quality, occupational safety, timeliness, and environmental sustainability so that the built infrastructure can provide long-term benefits. The rehabilitation of this irrigation network reflects the company’s commitment to supporting the agricultural sector through reliable water resource infrastructure.

Dian hopes that water distribution to agricultural areas in West Lampung will become more optimal, thereby increasing community agricultural productivity. According to her, a good irrigation network plays a strategic role in maintaining agricultural sector stability amid climate change challenges and rising national food needs.
“The development of irrigation infrastructure is not just about physical construction, but also about how that infrastructure can support the community’s economic sustainability,” Dian added.
Dian stated that the irrigation rehabilitation project also supports the government’s priority programmes in the national food resilience sector and aligns with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita in strengthening food self-sufficiency.
“Optimal irrigation infrastructure is one of the important foundations in enhancing agricultural productivity, ensuring food supply availability, and supporting farmer welfare in various regions,” Dian revealed.
Dian is optimistic that this irrigation network rehabilitation project can improve irrigation service quality in the West Lampung region. With better infrastructure support, the agricultural sector is expected to develop more productively and sustainably, while also driving regional economic growth.
