Lampung Housing KUR Reaches Rp 268.86 Billion, Ara: We Want to Create "New Rich People"
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The distribution of People’s Business Credit (KUR) for Housing or Housing Programme Credit (KPP) in Lampung province has reached Rp 268.86 billion with a total of 264 debtors.
This achievement was conveyed during the Collaboration Programme for Housing Financing and People’s Economic Empowerment event held by the Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) in Lampung on Thursday (7/5/2026).
PKP Minister Maruarar Sirait, or Ara, stated that the housing sector has a significant economic impact because it can stimulate various business sectors while opening up employment opportunities.
“Housing is not just about building houses, but also about driving the people’s economy. From construction workers and material shops to MSMEs and the service sector, they all grow due to housing development,” she explained.
On that occasion, Ara emphasised the importance of strengthening the Housing KUR programme as an instrument for community economic empowerment.
The Gerindra politician assessed that the government continues to encourage the expansion of financing access so that more people and small business actors can utilise the programme.
“We want the Housing KUR to be increasingly accessible to the community and business actors, so that it can produce more new entrepreneurs and drive the regional economy,” she said.
Ara also mentioned that the housing financing programme is expected to create new economic growth in the region.
“With this programme, we want to create new rich people in Lampung. We want the community to grow, their businesses to develop, the economy to move, and their welfare to improve through the housing sector,” she stated.
During the event, Ara expressed appreciation to the banking sector, particularly Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), for its support in distributing people’s housing financing.
“BTN has recorded an absorption of Rp 268.86 billion from 264 debtors. This is a very good achievement and must continue to be improved,” she said.
“Collaboration between the central government, local government, banking, and business actors must continue to be strengthened so that the housing sector truly becomes a driver of the regional economy,” she stressed.
Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti stated that the housing sector also contributes significantly to national economic growth.
“Based on the data we released on 5 May 2026, Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 reached 5.61 percent, which is the highest in history. The housing sector is one of the largest contributors to that economic growth,” she said.
Meanwhile, Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated that the local government is ready to support various housing financing and development programmes so that the community can more easily obtain decent and affordable housing.
“We are ready to support various housing and people’s financing programmes so that the people of Lampung can more easily obtain decent and affordable housing,” he said.
The Ministry of PKP emphasised that future housing development will continue to be integrated with people’s economic empowerment so that its benefits can be felt more broadly by the community.
