Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal has set a target to ensure no provincial roads under his authority have potholes before the peak of the 2026 Lebaran mudik (homecoming) exodus.

"Lampung Province is always in the spotlight as it serves as the entry gate for people travelling from Java to Sumatra. Therefore, our services and preparedness must be carried out with great care," Rahmat said in Bandarlampung on Tuesday (17 February).

According to Rahmat, the increased mobility during the 2026 Lebaran Transport period must be anticipated with sound infrastructure and human resource readiness. His administration will therefore accelerate road repairs from national to district and city level through self-managed (swakelola) schemes.

"The Lampung Provincial Government is targeting zero potholes on provincial roads before the peak of the mudik flow," he said.

Currently, 79.79 per cent of provincial roads in the Lampung region are in good condition.

"We are therefore striving to ensure infrastructure can support the smooth mobility of homecoming travellers, as every mudik season national attention is focused on Lampung, particularly on the ferry crossing from Merak Port to Bakauheni Port and vice versa," he said.

Rahmat also expressed appreciation for the central government's Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy, school holidays, and collective leave arrangements. He noted these policies could help facilitate travel and distribute the density of the 2026 Lebaran mudik flow.

"We also appreciate the various central government policies that favour the people, from discounts on air and rail transport, toll fee discounts, to the free mudik programme. These policies are also expected to increase public mobility during this year's Lebaran. So the regional government will endeavour to assist, among other things by preparing good infrastructure," he said.
