Lampung Governor: Social Media Restrictions Help Children Focus on Learning
Bandarlampung - Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal stated that implementing a policy to restrict social media access for children under 16 years old can help children focus more on their learning.
“Regarding the implementation of the social media access restriction policy for children, I think it is a good effort, and we certainly support it. There have been many reports, especially from teachers, regarding students’ use of social media,” said Rahmat Mirzani Djausal in Bandarlampung on Monday.
He said that with the implementation of social media restrictions for children under 16 years old, it will help build human resources that are more competitive.
“Nowadays, many children are having difficulty learning because they spend a lot of time playing social media, especially online games. So, with this, it is hoped that they can focus more on learning,” he said.
He explained that this must be complemented by improving the quality of human resources in terms of academics and also emotional intelligence management.
“Our children only go to school for eight hours, after that they return home, meaning that improving the quality of human resources is a shared responsibility of parents, teachers, and everyone,” he stated.
According to him, the regional government will also focus on improving the quality of human resources through the implementation of programmes in the education sector.
The policy will begin to be implemented on 28 March 2026. The policy supports the previous regulation, namely Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on the Governance of Electronic System Operations in Child Protection (PP TUNAS).
