Lampung Governor Reviews Road Repairs in Pesawaran
The Lampung Provincial Government has commenced repair works on damaged road sections in Pesawaran District to ensure infrastructure conditions remain safe and comfortable for travellers ahead of the Eid exodus during the Islamic year 1447 Hijriah.
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal conducted a direct inspection of the repair process on Saturday afternoon, 28 February 2026. The inspection covered several locations, including the Branti Raya Road connecting Natar District, Negeri Katon, to Gedong Tataan, as well as Kedondong Main Road, which had previously been reported by residents to suffer extensive damage.
At Kedondong Road, the governor’s entourage, accompanied by several heads of regional apparatus organisations (OPD), was welcomed by Pesawaran Regent Nanda Indira Bastian. During this occasion, the two officials discussed accelerating repairs to the damaged road, which serves as a main access route for local residents.
Governor Mirza explained that current repair work is of a temporary nature, focusing on filling potholes and strengthening the road base to reduce accident risks during the Eid exodus period.
“For now we are filling the holes so the Eid period can be comfortable for travel. Permanent repairs will begin after Eid,” said the governor.
He added that permanent repairs are planned to commence in March 2026 following Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. This approach is taken to ensure that repair works do not disrupt vehicle traffic flow during the peak of the Eid exodus.
Beyond road surface damage, the governor also highlighted drainage problems that frequently overflow and flood road sections. According to him, water pooling is one of the factors accelerating asphalt deterioration.
Consequently, improvements to the drainage system along the entire road sections will form part of comprehensive repairs planned by the Lampung Provincial Government. A well-functioning drainage system is considered essential to maintain road construction durability and extend its lifespan.
During the inspection, the governor also took the opportunity to greet and speak with local residents to directly hear their concerns regarding infrastructure conditions in their area.
One resident from Halangan Ratu, Negeri Katon District, Yanti (53), expressed surprise at meeting the governor directly in front of her home. She conveyed her hopes that permanent road repairs would be realised according to schedule.
“The governor said repairs will be done in March, God willing. Thank God, I am very happy, thank you Governor,” she said.
The Lampung Provincial Government hopes that the temporary repairs currently being carried out will improve safety and comfort for road users during the Eid period. Meanwhile, the permanent repairs to be undertaken after Eid al-Fitr are expected to facilitate public mobility, support economic activities, and strengthen inter-regional connectivity in Pesawaran District.
