Lampung Governor Inspects Free Nutritious Meal Programme on First Day of School
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal directly inspected the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Programme on the first day of the 2026 academic year, Monday, 13 July 2026. He monitored the entire process, from the Nutrition Service Fulfilment Unit (SPPG) kitchens in Bandar Lampung to the distribution of food to schools, to ensure all stages ran smoothly, safely, and met the nutritional standards required by students.
“Following the start of this school term, in accordance with the President’s instructions, we are collaborating and inviting all components of society to oversee the MBG kitchens and their distribution, right down to the side dishes. Today we toured elementary, junior high, special needs, and senior high schools to ensure this programme is running well,” he said.
He stressed that this inspection was a strategic step to ensure the readiness of the education ecosystem as well as the smooth distribution of the MBG Programme from the very beginning of teaching and learning activities. Field monitoring was divided into five teams to enable supervision to reach more locations. The first team was led directly by Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal alongside Lampung Provincial Secretary Marindo Kurniawan and Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office Danang Suryo Wibowo. Meanwhile, the second team was led by Lampung Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela. The third team was led by Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare M. Firsada, Assistant for Economy and Development Mulyadi Irsan, and Assistant for General Administration Sulpakar.
During his visit, Rahmat Mirzani, together with the Lampung High Prosecutor, inspected SD Negeri 4 Sumberejo, SMA Negeri 7 Bandar Lampung, SLB B and SLB C Dharma Bhakti Dharma Pertiwi, and the SPPG Beringin Raya in Kemiling District. At each school visited, Rahmat Mirzani engaged in direct dialogue with head teachers, teachers, and students. He gathered various aspirations regarding the implementation of the MBG and the schools’ readiness to begin the learning process in the new academic year.
He stated that monitoring results showed the programme’s implementation was generally running well. Nevertheless, the government noted several inputs from the field as evaluation material to continuously improve service quality. “There are several suggestions, the purpose of which is certainly to improve the programme so it continues to run well,” he said.
In addition to ensuring food distribution was timely, he also paid attention to the quality of the food received by students. According to him, aspects of food safety, hygiene, and nutritional adequacy are important and must not be overlooked. Therefore, when inspecting the Beringin Raya SPPG, he brought a mobile laboratory team to examine water quality, kitchen cleanliness, and the suitability of raw materials used in food preparation. This inspection was carried out as a preventive measure to ensure the food served truly meets health and food safety standards. Several technical inputs were also given to SPPG managers to improve service quality.
Beyond conducting evaluations, Rahmat Mirzani also encouraged the kitchen staff. He asked all staff to maintain their commitment to providing nutritious, safe, and high-quality food for students. On the same occasion, Head of the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office Danang Suryo Wibowo affirmed the prosecutor’s office’s commitment to overseeing the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal programme as a national priority programme. According to Danang, the Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office will continue to be a strategic partner of the Lampung Provincial Government in providing assistance, supervision, and evaluation of the programme’s implementation.
“Together with the Governor, we firmly uphold the commitment in line with the directives of the President and the Attorney General. We will continue to assist and oversee this national priority programme so that it runs optimally and provides benefits to the community, especially in Lampung Province,” he said. He added that the High Prosecutor’s Office together with the regional government will continue to conduct regular monitoring of various SPPGs and schools. This step is taken to ensure that any obstacles in the field can be promptly evaluated and addressed.
Through this supervision, the Lampung Provincial Government seeks to ensure the MBG Programme is implemented accountably, hygienically, and sustainably. The presence of this programme is expected not only to improve the nutritional intake of students but also to support children’s growth and development, enhance learning concentration, and strengthen the quality of Lampung’s human resources in the future.
