Lampung Governor Ensures Free Nutritious Meal Programme Runs Smoothly on First Day of School
Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal has confirmed that the Provincial Government is directly overseeing the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme on the first day of the new 2026 academic year. Supervision was carried out from the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens to the distribution of meals at schools to ensure the entire process runs smoothly, safely, and meets the nutritional needs of students.
"Following the start of the school term, and in accordance with the President’s instructions, we are collaborating and inviting all elements of society to oversee the MBG kitchens and their distribution, right down to the side dishes. Today we visited elementary, junior high, special needs, and senior high schools to ensure the programme is running well," Rahmat said in a written statement on Monday (13/7/2026).
The monitoring visits in Bandar Lampung were divided into five teams to cover more locations. The first team was led by Rahmat Mirzani Djausal alongside Regional Secretary Marindo Kurniawan and Lampung High Prosecutor Danang Suryo Wibowo. The second team was led by Deputy Governor Jihan Nurlela, while the third team was led by Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare M. Firsada, Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development Mulyadi Irsan, and Assistant for General Administration Sulpakar.
During the visit, the Governor and the High Prosecutor inspected SD Negeri 4 Sumberejo, SMA Negeri 7 Bandar Lampung, SLB B and SLB C Dharma Bhakti Dharma Pertiwi, and the SPPG Beringin Raya in Kemiling District. At each school, the Governor engaged in dialogue with headmasters, teachers, and students, gathering feedback on the MBG implementation and the schools’ readiness for the new academic year.
Mirza stated that overall monitoring results showed the programme was running well, although some field inputs were noted for evaluation to continuously improve service quality. "There are several inputs aimed at improving the programme so it continues to run well," he said.
Beyond ensuring timely food distribution, Mirza focused on the quality of meals received by students. He emphasised that food safety, hygiene, and nutritional adequacy are critical aspects that must not be overlooked. While inspecting the Beringin Raya SPPG, he brought a mobile laboratory team to check water quality, kitchen cleanliness, and the suitability of raw materials used in meal preparation. These checks were conducted as a preventive measure to ensure the food served meets health and safety standards. Technical feedback was also provided to SPPG managers to enhance service quality.
Mirza also encouraged kitchen staff to maintain their commitment to providing safe and nutritious meals for students. He called on the public to participate in monitoring the Free Nutritious Meal programme, stating that public involvement is essential for refining the programme and ensuring it reaches the right targets. "We hope for a lot of input from the community to improve this programme," he said.
Lampung High Prosecutor Danang Suryo Wibowo affirmed his office’s commitment to overseeing the programme as a national priority. He stated that the High Prosecutor’s Office will continue to be a strategic partner to the Provincial Government in providing assistance, supervision, and evaluation. "Together with the Governor, we uphold the commitment as directed by the President and the Attorney General. We will continue to assist and oversee this national priority programme so it runs optimally and benefits the community, especially in Lampung Province," Danang said. He added that his office, together with the regional government, will conduct regular monitoring of SPPGs and schools to ensure any obstacles in the field can be promptly evaluated and resolved.
Through direct supervision from the very first day of school, the Lampung Provincial Government hopes the Free Nutritious Meal programme can be implemented accountably, hygienically, and sustainably. The programme is expected not only to improve students’ nutritional intake but also to support their growth and development, enhance learning concentration, and strengthen the quality of Lampung’s human resources in the future.
