Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal accompanied President Prabowo Subianto to inaugurate the KH Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in West Pesisir Regency on Wednesday, 10 June 2026. The hospital’s presence is a tangible manifestation of the government’s commitment to delivering equitable healthcare services to coastal and remote areas in Lampung Province. The construction of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir is part of the central government’s accelerated hospital development programme, initiated following a proposal from the Lampung Governor to ensure the people of West Pesisir and surrounding areas gain closer, faster, and quality healthcare access. Prior to the inauguration, the President, along with the Governor and Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, inspected several available health service facilities, including the Emergency Department, paediatric clinic, dental clinic, general practice clinic, ENT clinic, obstetrics and gynaecology clinic, and internal medicine clinic. Rahmat Mirzani assessed that the presence of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir marks a crucial step in strengthening health development equity in Lampung, particularly for communities that have long faced limited access to referral hospitals. He explained the hospital was built through the Best Fast Results Programme (PHTC) with state budget support of Rp152.99 billion. Its physical construction had reached 100 per cent by the end of 2025 and is now ready to provide more comprehensive health services to the public. The Lampung Provincial Government continues to strive to advance health sector development with central government support, including the Governor’s proposal for hospital construction in West Pesisir in November 2024, a proposal for road access construction to the hospital, and a subsequent road construction proposal through the IJD mechanism in 2026. The provincial government is also pushing for the activation of BPJS services, a renewed BPJS service MoU, and the fulfilment of specialist doctors for priority services. In terms of capacity, RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir has significantly increased from approximately 98 beds to 137 beds. The hospital is also equipped with various modern facilities such as an Intensive Care Unit, Intensive Cardiovascular Care Unit, haemodialysis services, operating theatre, radiology, laboratory, outpatient services, and Standard Inpatient Class rooms. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin explained that RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir is one of 66 hospitals built by the central government to strengthen regional referral health services. The hospital is projected to be capable of handling the five disease groups causing the highest mortality: stroke, heart disease, cancer, kidney disorders, as well as maternal and child health services. In addition to the completed building and service facilities, the government is also continuing to equip it with modern medical devices and specialist medical personnel to ensure optimal operations. With the operation of RSUD KH Muhammad Thohir, the Lampung Provincial Government hopes that communities in West Pesisir, West Lampung, and surrounding areas can obtain more easily accessible referral health services, while simultaneously reducing the need for patient referrals to Bandar Lampung or outside the region.
