Lampung Government Improves Road Access to Accelerate PSEL Waste-to-Energy Project
The Lampung Provincial Government is improving road access and ensuring land readiness to support the acceleration of the Lampung Raya Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) National Strategic Project.
“The main focus of this development is to ensure land maturation and improve the access road to the PSEL project site in Purwotani Village, Jati Agung, so that all stages proceed according to the schedule set by the central government,” said Lampung Provincial Secretary Marindo Kurniawan in Bandarlampung on Tuesday.
He stated this is a form of acceleration for the Lampung Raya PSEL development, which is planned to be fully operational by the fourth quarter of 2028. “We are ensuring that land maturation will be realised soon with budget allocation support, as this is the main key before the groundbreaking in December,” he said.
He explained that as a concrete step, the Lampung Provincial Government will intervene in the budget through the Revised Regional Budget to ensure land maturation can be carried out immediately. Additionally, the construction of a 1.7-kilometre access road to the project site is targeted to begin early next year.
“Danantara, as the project companion, emphasised that the groundbreaking target in December 2026 is an absolute prerequisite for achieving the operational target. To support this, land provision and access road improvements are crucial points that the regional government must resolve in the coming months,” he said.
Regarding the supply of raw waste materials, the regional government has mapped out the supply chain system from the agglomerated regencies and cities, namely Bandarlampung City, South Lampung Regency, and East Lampung Regency. The provincial government will soon assign the Environmental Agency to manage the transportation pattern so that the waste supply target of 1,168 tonnes per day can be met sustainably.
“The implementation of PSEL is expected to have a significant impact on the people of Lampung, especially in thoroughly and environmentally resolving the problem of waste accumulation. Furthermore, this project will strengthen regional energy independence through the utilisation of waste into electricity, which is in line with the sustainable development vision in Lampung Province,” he added.
To ensure the project’s success, the developer has also committed to absorbing local workers in its operations. Local workers are targeted to dominate up to 90 percent when the project is fully operational, and they will be equipped with special training programmes to ensure knowledge and technology transfer.
Meanwhile, the Cooperation Agreement between the winning business entity and the regional government will soon be finalised. The cooperation document will be adjusted to local regulations to guarantee legal certainty for the project’s operations, in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
