Lampung Free Nutritious Meal Task Force: Menggala Tengah Service Unit Operations Temporarily Closed
Bandarlampung — The Head of the Lampung Province Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Task Force, Saipul, stated that the operations of the Menggala Tengah Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) in Tulang Bawang Regency have been temporarily closed following a food poisoning incident.
“We have received a report that the kitchen of the SPPG has been temporarily closed for an indefinite period,” said Saipul during a press briefing in Bandarlampung on Wednesday.
“We will conduct further inspection to verify whether all standard operating procedures (SOP) have been adhered to,” he added.
Saipul explained that his team is currently verifying whether the SPPG holds a valid food safety and hygiene certificate (SLHS).
“We will conduct another inspection of the SPPG. What is certain is that we have coordinated and provided assistance to the victims and the SPPG in question,” he stated.
Previously, 33 individuals—comprising five infants, fourteen children, one elderly person, and thirteen adults—reported experiencing symptoms of food poisoning or food allergies, including nausea, vomiting, and repeated diarrhoea. The incident allegedly occurred after consuming salted eggs included in the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) package served by the Menggala Tengah SPPG on Tuesday, 24 February, alongside other items including homemade bread, wafers, and oranges.
Dozens of residents affected by the poisoning or allergic reactions were treated at Menggala General Hospital. Food samples are currently being examined by the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) to determine the cause of the incident.
