Bahermansyah, chief of the local manpower and transmigration ministry office, said the provincial administration had sent an official letter to all companies in the province, asking them to pay the annual bonus at the latest seven days before the Idhul Fitri holidays, as was stipulated by the law.

He called on workers to report to his office or to the governor's office on employers who refused to pay the annual bonus.

"Employers violating the law on annual bonus will be dealt with in accordance with the law and they will be announced to the public through the mass media," he said here on Tuesday.

He added that only companies, which could prove they were in financial difficulties, would be exempted from the law. --Antara
