Lampung Deputy Governor: Thematic assembly content book strengthens child protection

Bandarlampung — The Deputy Governor of Lampung, Jihan Nurlela, said the creation of a thematic assembly content book initiated by the Lampung Provincial Office for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) is an effort to strengthen child protection in schools. ‘This book is an innovation by the Lampung Provincial Government in the education sector to strengthen protection of learners while building students’ character so they are more aware, brave, and able to protect themselves from various forms of violence, including in digital spaces,’ Nurlela said in a statement from Bandarlampung on Tuesday. She said the thematic assembly content book is prepared for students at primary (SD), junior high (SMP), and senior high (SMA) levels or equivalent. ‘This material is part of reinforcing character education implemented in schools. The presence of this program also addresses the challenge of preventing risks of violence against children, including online gender-based violence (KBGO), manipulation, and grooming that occur through digital media,’ she said. ‘The Lampung Provincial Government wants to ensure that children grow up in a safe environment. There must be no violence against children, and it is important to maintain continuity of education, from preventing dropout to encouraging students to continue their education to higher levels or enter the workforce,’ he added. He explained that success in creating a generation that is excellent and competitive in Lampung cannot happen in isolation without support from various parties. Cross-sector collaboration is the key to realising these goals. ‘Teachers, educators, parents, and the living environment must be actively involved. This collaboration is important so that we can create a healthy, resilient, and outstanding generation,’ he said. Through this approach, learners are also expected to understand their rights over their bodies, to say no to unsafe situations, and to know how to report or seek help when facing potential violence.
