Lampung-1 Satellite to Launch from Chinese Offshore Waters

The Lampung-1 satellite is scheduled to launch into orbit this Wednesday. The satellite, a collaboration between the Lampung Provincial Government and aerospace technology company STAR.VISION, will be carried into space as part of a mission from the offshore waters of Shandong, China.

Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal previously stated that the presence of Lampung-1 marks an important milestone in the region’s digital transformation. According to him, the data generated by the satellite will be used as a basis for formulating more precise development policies. “Lampung must dare to leap into the technological era. Accurate data will serve as the foundation for making the right policies to accelerate regional development,” he said.

He added that the utilisation of satellite technology will assist the government in optimising the management of natural resources, increasing productivity in the agriculture and marine sectors, and opening new technology-based investment opportunities. “Space technology must provide real benefits to the community, from strengthening the economy to enabling more modern and sustainable environmental management,” he stated.

Mirza expressed hope that the collaboration with various international partners in space technology development would accelerate the birth of new innovations and enhance Lampung’s competitiveness on a global scale. The readiness for the launch was announced by the company via its official social media channels, confirming that the rocket carrying the satellite had been transported by ship to the launch point at sea. The mission will carry two satellites: Lampung-1, owned by Indonesia, and Samarkand 2028, developed in partnership with Uzbekistan. Both are designed to support remote sensing applications using hyperspectral imaging.
