Lamongan Wins Best Institution Award at 2026 PPA Award

The Lamongan Regency Government has received an award for Best Institution at the 2026 Child Marriage Prevention Performance Assessment (PPA Award) for East Java Province. The award coincides with the 33rd National Family Day (Harganas) commemoration in East Java and serves as recognition of the Lamongan government’s commitment to creating a safe, child-friendly, and high-quality environment for children. The award was presented directly by Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) Arifah Fauzi, accompanied by East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa, to Lamongan Vice Regent Dirham Akbar Aksara at Menur Provincial Hospital in East Java on Monday (29/6). According to the Vice Regent, this achievement is tangible proof of the Lamongan government’s success in building a strong, collaborative, and sustainable institutional system to prevent child marriage. ‘The realisation of these efforts is carried out through cross-sector synergy, involving the regional government, the Religious Court, educational institutions, community organisations, and the Lamongan Children’s Forum,’ he explained. He added that strengthening regulations, providing counselling services, public education, and digitalising services have become important foundations in reducing the rate of child marriage in Lamongan. The trend of declining marriage dispensation applications in Lamongan Regency is evident. Based on data from 2025, the number of dispensations fell by 32 per cent (to 158 cases) compared to the previous year, while the number of marriages involving individuals under 18 years old was successfully reduced by 47 per cent. This decline also indicates increased public awareness regarding the importance of fulfilling children’s rights and delaying the age of marriage. Furthermore, the Zero Child Marriage Village movement continues to show positive development. By 2025, a total of 357 villages and sub-districts out of 474 in Lamongan Regency had successfully recorded zero child marriage cases. The success has also been strengthened through the digital innovation ‘Information and Communication for Child Marriage Prevention and Family Learning Centre’ (IN-KOMPPAKGA), developed by the Lamongan government. This platform provides online counselling registration services, family consultations via WhatsApp, an information and education centre, and data integration with the Religious Court, District Court, and the Lamongan Children’s Forum. This digitalisation makes child marriage prevention services more quickly, effectively, and integratively accessible to the public.
