Lamongan Regent Promotes Local Products to 162 International Students
Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi promoted local UMKM products to 162 international students from 43 countries during a visit to Lamongan. This was conveyed during the Gala Dinner Closing Ceremony of the 6th Summer School 2026 at Pendopo Lokatantra on Friday evening.
“We help some of the brought home, some snake or coffee, for batik or handicrafts. Because when you buy our local product, you are not simply buying but you are supporting a family’s dream, encouraging creativity and helping a small business grow,” said the Regent, who is familiarly known as Pak Yes.
According to Pak Yes, by purchasing local UMKM products, the participants are not merely buying food or ordinary crafts. More than that, it represents a form of support for artisans and sellers in fostering their creativity and small enterprises.
Pak Yes also explained the integration of local wisdom into the sustainable development practised in Lamongan. This is carried out to boost Lamongan’s stable economic growth. The approach is driven through three main pillars: agriculture, trade and manufacturing. In addition, Lamongan continues to consistently invest in human resource development.
“When you arrived in Lamongan, perhaps another city on the maps of Indonesia. But for us Lamongan is much more than a location, it is a place where agriculture meets industry. Where tradition embraces innovation, and where opportunities continue to grow,” Pak Yes stated.
The international academic forum, themed ‘Strategies for Climate Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction from a Multidisciplinary Perspective’, serves as a global collaboration platform between academics, government, and the community in formulating innovative solutions to face future climate challenges.
