The Class IIB Lamongan Prison in East Java supplies hydroponic lettuce to the Keduyung Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) in Laren District to support the Free Nutritious Meals Programme.

Lamongan Prison Chief Heri Sulistyo stated that hydroponic lettuce cultivated by inmates at the prison’s Assimilation and Education Facility (SAE) yields approximately 15 kilograms daily.

“Through this rehabilitation programme, inmates are able to produce quality hydroponic lettuce with a daily production of around 15 kilograms, which we now supply to Keduyung SPPG to support the MBG Programme,” Heri Sulistyo said in Lamongan on Monday.

He explained that the hydroponic farming initiative not only serves as a skills training platform for inmates but also produces agricultural products with economic value and social benefits.

Heri added that the activity aligns with the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections’ (Imipas) policy to support national food security and strengthen inmates’ self-reliance through productive work units.

The delivery of the harvest to SPPG represents a collaborative effort in community corrections to support national strategic programmes, demonstrating the social and economic benefits of rehabilitation efforts.
