The Lamongan Regional Archives and Library Service held the Lamongan Pusta Raya Literacy Festival for three days starting Tuesday (30/6). Lamongan’s 2025 Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) stands at 18.9, whilst the Reading Interest Rate (TKM) remains at 61.51%.

Bupati Lamongan Yuhronur Efendi stated that the festival represents a synergy to cultivate a love of reading and an effort to popularise literacy learning. It also reflects Lamongan’s commitment and consistency in human development.

“A festival like this is very important for all of us, for our children, so they have character strengthening shaped by literacy, enabling them to distinguish between correct and misleading information,” the Bupati explained.

He revealed that Lamongan’s Community Literacy Development Index (IPLM) for 2025 is 18.9, whilst the Reading Interest Rate (TKM) has reached 61.51.

“This means it is a challenge for all of us, that the library has an increasingly important and integrated role in our human resource development,” added Pak Yes, as he is affectionately known.

Head of the Lamongan Regency Archives and Library Service Umuronah added that, based on National Library Head Regulation Number 7 of 2025, the IPLM measurement uses new instruments and methodologies. Similarly, the latest TKM measurement is regulated by National Library Head Regulation Number 9 of 2025. “Based on these regulations, the current measurement results do not indicate a decrease or increase, but rather a new value in a more substantive measurement perspective on library performance,” she concluded.
