Lamongan Begins Implementing WFH for Non-Public Service Government Units
The Lamongan Regency government in East Java has begun implementing a policy to adjust the work patterns of civil servants (ASN) through the Work From Home (WFH) mechanism. This central government directive will be carried out selectively every Friday.
This applies specifically to employees who do not provide direct services to the public or certain administrative tasks. Meanwhile, regional agencies related to public services will continue to perform duties from the office (Work From Office/WFO).
The step is intended to ensure the continuity of services in an optimal manner. “Starting today, we are implementing the ASN work culture transformation as per the central government’s instructions, including the application of Work From Home (WFH) and Work From Office (WFO) work patterns,” stated the Regent, familiarly known as Pak Yes, on Thursday (2/4).
The Regent also explained that the provisions call for all regional agencies to save on office operational costs. This includes the wise and measured use of electricity, fuel oil (BBM), and water.
Efficiency efforts are also being made through restrictions on the use of office facilities such as air conditioning (AC), lifts, and official vehicles. “In addition, official travel is reduced by up to 50 per cent as a budget optimisation measure,” emphasised Pak Yes.
The policy, established for energy efficiency amid the energy crisis affecting various countries, also regulates that WFH implementation be carried out selectively and measurably. This is done by considering work effectiveness and organisational needs.
He also stated that every regional agency is required to conduct data collection on employees carrying out WFH, including the location of task execution. This data is then compiled by personnel officials and reported to the Lamongan Regency BKPSDM.
“Through this policy, ASN are expected to adapt to a more flexible yet still productive work pattern,” he explained.
Pak Yes emphasised that the implementation of WFH and WFO must not be misinterpreted as a reduction in workload. “Do not let this policy be seen as a long weekend. This efficiency must not reduce work productivity. Services to the public must remain 100 per cent,” he stressed after inaugurating 509 civil servants in the Lamongan Regency government scope.
All these policies are an implementation of the Circular Letter (SE) of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 800.1.5/3349/SJ on the transformation of the work culture of Civil Servants (ASN) in the Regional Government environment.
The adjustment to the execution of official duties for ASN aims to support the acceleration of a more effective and efficient ASN work culture transformation within the Lamongan Regency Government scope.
