Lamongan Regency Government in East Java has become a destination for study visits by other districts and cities in handling stunting. This is due to Lamongan’s success in drastically reducing stunting rates from 27.5% in 2022 to 6.9% in 2024.

Deputy Regent of Lamongan, Dirham Akbar Aksara, received a visit from Deputy Regent of Banjar, Said Idrus Al-Habsy, and Deputy Mayor of Salatiga, Nina Agustin, in his office on Thursday (9/4). The visit was conducted for the purpose of studying the acceleration of stunting reduction. Deputy Regent Dirham explained various activities that have been implemented in Lamongan to accelerate the decline in stunting rates in Lamongan Regency.

Among them, through cadre mentoring, Great Parent School (SOTH), the 1-10-100 movement, the Foster Parents Movement to Prevent Stunting, Healthy Kitchen to Address Stunting (Dashat), the Ferrameg Movement (FE Wednesday Megilan), as well as Sadel Cepak (Model Village for Preventing Child Marriage).

“Of course, the success of these programmes also requires good cooperation from various parties, with village governments, with businesspeople who can be involved as foster parents. It needs to be continuously monitored and evaluated, mapped as well because sometimes it can be off-target,” explained Mas Dirham, who is also the Chair of the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team (TPPS) Lamongan.

Mas Dirham also shared his experience as one of the foster parents who continues to receive reports on the development of his stunting foster child.

“So there are reports, I still receive reports regarding weight gain or loss as well as height of my stunting foster child. It requires collective commitment, hopefully what we share today can become best practices that can also be implemented in your regions and have an impact on reducing stunting rates,” he concluded.
