The Lamongan Regency Government, alongside the Gresik Customs and Excise Office (KPPBC Type Madya Pabean B Gresik) and relevant stakeholders, successfully secured 9,10ability08 sticks of illegal cigarettes during an operation to eradicate illegal excisable goods on Monday (6/7).

The joint task force, comprising the Lamongan District Attorney’s Office, the Lamongan Regency Communication and Informatics Department, and the Economic and Natural Resources Division of the Lamongan Regional Secretariat, targeted several areas in Lamongan, including Glagah, Karangbinangun, Pucuk, and Babat districts.

The Head of the Lamongan Regency Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), Ahmad Edwin Anedi, emphasised that the operation to eradicate illegal cigarettes will continue to be intensified. This step serves as a form of government commitment to creating a healthy business climate while protecting state revenue from the excise sector.

“The operation to eradicate illegal cigarettes will continue to be conducted periodically. In addition to suppressing the circulation of illegal cigarettes, this step is also an effort to maintain the optimisation of state revenue, which will later be utilised to support development and public welfare,” he explained.

From the results of the operation, Glagah District recorded the highest number of findings with 6,520 sticks of illegal cigarettes. This was followed by Babat District with 2,508 sticks and Pucuk District with 80 sticks, while no violations were found in Karangbinangun District.

Regarding the types of violations, Edwin explained that the operation targeted plain cigarettes without excise stamps, cigarettes with counterfeit excise stamps, cigarettes with reused excise stamps, and cigarettes with excise stamps that do not match their intended purpose. All evidence found consisted of cigarettes with excise stamps that were not in accordance with their designated use. The findings were immediately seized and secured by the Gresik Customs and Excise Office to be processed in accordance with statutory regulations.

In addition to intensifying the supervision of illegal cigarette circulation through synergy with law enforcement agencies and related institutions, the Lamongan Regency Government also continues to educate the public on the importance of using and trading cigarettes that comply with excise regulations. Through these sustained efforts, it is hoped that the circulation of illegal cigarettes in Lamongan Regency can be suppressed so that the utilisation of the Tobacco Excise Revenue Sharing Fund (DBHCHT) can run optimally. This is intended to support regional development, increase public welfare, and provide benefits for tobacco farmers, workers in the tobacco industry, and other strategic sectors.
