Lamongan Allocates IDR 68.3 Billion for Jamula Road Programme to Boost Rural Economy
The Lamongan Regency Government in East Java has allocated Rp68.3 billion in the 2027 regional budget to continue the Jalan Mantab dan Alus Lamongan (Jamula) road development programme. The programme is directed at strengthening inter-regional connectivity while boosting economic activity for communities down to remote villages.
The budget will be used for the construction and improvement of 30 road sections, the construction of two bridges, and the handling of nine culvert points. Jamula is one of 11 priority programmes of Lamongan Regent Yuhronur Efendi together with Deputy Regent Dhirham Akbar Aksara.
Regent Yuhronur said road infrastructure development is an important part of improving connectivity and smoothing the distribution of community economic output. Road repairs are also intended to provide comfort and safety for road users.
“Including as an effort to provide comfort for the public who use the roads,” Yuhronur said during a surprise inspection of roads in Sugio District.
According to him, infrastructure development is not only oriented towards improving road quality, but also has an impact on community mobility and economic activity in rural areas.
This impact is felt by Sugio residents. Mahrus, 36, said the Jamula programme since the first term of Yuhronur Efendi’s administration has provided benefits for the community, especially in smoothing economic activity.
“The economy is improving because agricultural products can be sold without the obstacle of road damage. We are very grateful for the road development programme that is running in a real way,” Mahrus said.
Head of the Lamongan Regency Communication and Informatics Office Sugeng Widodo said the Lamongan Regency Government has prepared a budget of Rp68.3 billion for road infrastructure development and improvement in 2027.
From this budget, the handling covers 30 inter-district road sections with a total length of 34.7 kilometres. In addition, the government will handle two bridges and nine culverts.
Several targeted sections include Gembong-Dempel in Maduran District, Soko-Karangbinangun, Deket-Soko, Sugio-Kedungdadi, Sumberwudi-Maduran, and Nguwok-Tlanak.
The works include road reconstruction along 19.20 kilometres and periodic maintenance along 15.50 kilometres. For bridges, the government is targeting replacement along 1,500 metres and rehabilitation along 500 metres.
Sugeng said the Jamula programme has also targeted a number of strategic sections in previous years. A total of 56 road sections with a total length of around 40 kilometres have been included in the infrastructure improvement programme.
The works are carried out through a number of methods, including widening, concreting, and asphalting, according to the condition of each road section. “And for the 2026 budget, everything is already in process, some are already 100% complete, still in the concreting process, almost aggregate, also in the calculation process,” Sugeng said.
The Lamongan Regency Government considers the continuation of Jamula necessary to strengthen inter-regional access. Better road infrastructure is expected to ease residents’ mobility, accelerate the distribution of agricultural products, and open economic access for communities in remote areas.
The programme is part of the local government’s strategy to drive economic growth through infrastructure development that directly touches the needs of the community.
Within two years after the pandemic, the Regency Government has invested Rp360 billion in road budgets for the allocation of 152 road sections with a length of 140 km.
