Blangkejeren, Gayo Lues (ANTARA) - A Starlink satellite internet device provided as aid to disaster survivors in Agusen Village, Blangkejeren Subdistrict, Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh, has been left unused because no one understands how to operate it.

Agusen Village Head Ramadhan, when met in his village on Wednesday, stated that the device was aid from Vice President Gibran Rakabumingraka, received by residents while evacuating at the Blangkejeren Job Training Centre (BLK) following floods at the end of 2025.

The device was then brought back to the village as a shared facility that could be used by the community. However, the limited technical knowledge of village officials has left the device neatly stored in its box for about one month, or during the time spent in temporary housing (huntara).

The satellite internet device still functions properly when turned on, but it cannot connect to the internet network.

“Why is this? We could use it during evacuation, perhaps because the service hasn’t been activated yet, I don’t understand,” said Ramadhan.

According to him, the presence of the satellite internet is actually very much needed, especially for Agusen disaster survivors who are currently still living in huntara, to communicate with family, including ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026.

He hopes for assistance or technical support from relevant parties so that the device can soon be operated and provide benefits to the village community.
