Jakarta – Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, has revealed the reason Rinaldi Umar was not appointed as the new Director of Investigation at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

Anang stated that the position of Director of Investigation (Dirdik) at Jampidsus must be filled by someone experienced and mature in special criminal matters.

Therefore, the Attorney General’s Office filled the position with Saiful Bahri Siregar, who has experience in special crime investigation and is a former Head of the Bengkulu High Prosecutor’s Office.

“It happens that Mr Saiful Bahri, who was appointed, is a former High Prosecutor, has been in investigation, while Mr Rinaldi himself has mostly been outside,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rinaldi Umar will be placed in the position of Deputy Head of the South Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office.

“Mr Rinaldi is first made Deputy High Prosecutor in South Sumatra. Later on, what is clear is that he still needs to mature. For this Dirdik position, it must be someone who is already mature,” he said.

Previously, in the Decree of the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia Number 831 of 2026 dated 22 July 2026, Rinaldi Umar was transferred to become Dirdik at Jampidsus from his previous position as Deputy High Prosecutor of Banten.

He replaced Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, who was transferred to become Director III at the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel).

However, on Tuesday, Saiful Bahri Siregar was officially inaugurated as Dirdik Jampidsus by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin along with 33 other people consisting of High Prosecutors and echelon II officials within the Attorney General’s Office.
