The Labuan Bajo Customs and Excise Office (KPPBC) Type Madya Pabean (TMP) C destroyed illegal alcoholic beverages and cigarettes on Wednesday (30/09/2026). The illicit goods are valued at more than Rp 1.2 billion.

The destruction was carried out symbolically in the courtyard of the Labuan Bajo Customs Office by burning and smashing the items. Subsequently, the goods were transported to the Warloka Landfill in West Manggarai to be fully destroyed through burning and burial.

“This activity is a follow-up to a series of law enforcement actions in the excise sector. The destruction is carried out to eliminate the form of goods that cannot be used, utilised, or transferred,” said the Head of KPPBC TMP C Labuan Bajo, Syahirul Alim.

The destroyed excisable goods consisted of 832,240 sticks of machine-made clove cigarettes (SKM) and machine-made white cigarettes (SPM), as well as 1.9 litres of ethyl alcohol-containing beverages (MMEA) of categories B and C.

The estimated loss to the state from the destroyed goods exceeds Rp 815 million. This includes tobacco excise (HT) and MMEA of over Rp 629 million, cigarette tax of over Rp 62 million, and VAT on tobacco and MMEA of over Rp 123 million.

Syahirul stated that the destruction of these State-Owned Goods (BMMN) resulted from customs and excise enforcement actions conducted between June 2025 and July 2026 across nine regencies within the Labuan Bajo Customs surveillance area, including West Manggarai and other regencies on Flores Island up to Lembata.

“The destroyed goods are the result of 45 enforcement evidence letters (SBP) originating from independent operations and joint enforcement with the Illegal Cigarette Eradication Task Force (Satgas Gempur Rokok Ilegal),” said Syahirul.

These joint enforcement actions were a synergy between Customs, Local Government (Satpol PP), and other law enforcement agencies across the nine regencies under Labuan Bajo Customs surveillance. The operations were supported by the tobacco excise revenue sharing fund (DBHCHT) and cigarette tax for the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years.

The destruction ceremony was attended by the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkompinda) of West Manggarai, the West Manggarai Illegal Cigarette Eradication Task Force, and several other agencies in West Manggarai. The heads of the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) and Fire Department from regencies within the Labuan Bajo Customs surveillance area also attended virtually.
