Labschool Jakarta Holds 2026 MPLS, Equipping New Students with Character, Literacy, and Creativity
SMA Labschool Jakarta officially held its Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah (MPLS) for the 2026/2027 academic year from 13–17 July 2026. Embracing the spirit of character building, literacy, social awareness, and potential development, the activity was attended by all new students through a series of educational programmes.
Head of SMA Labschool Jakarta, Badru Zaman, explained that MPLS serves as the initial gateway for students to transform and become acquainted with the school culture. According to him, students are not only introduced to physical facilities or the curriculum but are also instilled with the noble values of Labschool, which encompass faith, knowledge, and charity.
‘Looking ahead, students need to continuously develop into individuals who are adaptive, innovative, and globally competitive without losing their cultural roots and national character,’ Badru Zaman stated to Media Indonesia on Sunday (19/7).
Over the five days, new students participated in the Wiyata Mandala programme to meet the headmaster, teachers, education staff, and learning support facilities. This step aims to ensure students understand the school rules and the identity of the Labschool community from an early stage.
As a form of preparedness reinforcement, the students also took part in fire disaster mitigation training guided by the Pulogadung Fire Department. Participants received instruction on fire prevention, evacuation procedures, and hands-on practice using light fire extinguishers (APAR).
The learning experience was broadened through an educational visit to the National Library of the Republic of Indonesia. There, students not only explored the national literacy facilities but also had the opportunity to appreciate the ‘Growing Up As An Indonesian’ art exhibition, which showcased works by Year 12 students of SMA Labschool Jakarta.
The exhibition received special appreciation from the Deputy Minister of Cooperatives, Farida Farichah. She assessed that the works on display reflected the identity of the younger generation and optimism for the future of Indonesia’s creative economy.
‘Art is a mirror of a generation’s identity and thoughts. Seeing these works, I am optimistic that the future of Indonesia’s creative economy is in the right hands,’ Farida said. She added that the spirit of growing and advancing together in these artworks aligns with the ethos of cooperatives.
Beyond cognitive and artistic aspects, the new students also visited Istiqlal Mosque. This activity was designed to strengthen spiritual values, tolerance, and an understanding of diversity as the foundation of social life.
The MPLS series concluded with an Extracurricular Expo featuring more than 23 types of student activities. This event served as an inspiration for new students to choose a platform for developing their interests and talents over the next three years of education.
One new student, Said Altair, admitted he was very impressed with this year’s MPLS. ‘The way the material was delivered was interactive and easy to understand. I got to know the Labschool culture better and made many new friends. This has made me ready to pursue my education here,’ he said.
Through the 2026 MPLS, SMA Labschool Jakarta hopes to produce a generation that is not only academically excellent but also possesses strong character, creativity, and readiness to face global challenges.
