Labour Minister Yassierli Remembers Try Sutrisno: A Figure Who Set an Example for Us
Jakarta — Labour Minister Yassierli paid his respects at the home of the late Vice President Try Sutrisno in Menteng, Central Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026), remembering him as a figure who set an example for many Indonesians during his lifetime.
“Certainly we Indonesians must be grieving deeply at his passing. In my view, he was an extraordinary figure who set an example for us,” Yassierli said on Monday.
He acknowledged the significant contributions Try Sutrisno made to Indonesia. Yassierli himself revealed that he knew of Try’s career since his university days, which deepened the personal loss felt by his passing.
“Once again we have lost him and we pray that all his deeds in life will be rewarded in the sight of Almighty God,” he concluded.
Indonesia’s sixth Vice President Try Sutrisno died at Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital (RSPAD) in Jakarta on Monday (2 March 2026). The news was confirmed by former RSPAD Chief Major General (Retired) TNI Albertus Budi Sulistya.
According to information received, Try Sutrisno passed away at RSPAD at 06:58 West Indonesian Time. According to plans, his funeral prayer will be held at Sunda Kelapa Mosque with burial at Kalibata Heroes Cemetery later that day.
