Labour Minister Will Force Non-Compliant Companies to Pay Holiday Allowance, Report Now
Jakarta — Indonesia’s Minister of Labour Yassierli has urged workers and labourers who have not received their Tunjangan Hari Raya (THR, or Holiday Allowance) to report immediately. The government will establish a complaint mechanism through THR reporting posts that will be structured hierarchically down to the regional level.
This statement was made by Yassierli in response to scrutiny from the Indonesian Ombudsman regarding persistent THR complaints recorded between 2023-2025, which number in the hundreds.
“The regulations already exist, and we will now establish a mechanism to remind companies of their obligations. We will be setting up THR reporting posts,” said Yassierli during a press conference at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday (25 February 2026).
He explained that the THR posts will not be limited to the national level but will be mandatory across all regions. Regional governments, from city and district to provincial levels, are being asked to establish similar posts to receive worker complaints.
“All city, district, and provincial labour offices will be required to have THR posts. So if any company refuses to pay THR, workers can report to these posts, and labour inspectors will then follow up on the complaint,” he said.
Yassierli believes this reporting mechanism is essential for effectively addressing THR payment violations. Once complaints are received, labour inspectors will perform their function in following up on these reports.
“This mechanism must work this way so that there will certainly be reports, and that is where labour inspectors’ function comes in—to follow up on the results of these reports,” he added.
He noted that this scheme has been applied in previous years and has proven effective. From the numerous complaints received, the government through labour inspectors has been able to force non-compliant companies to pay workers their THR.
“Last year it worked that way, and thanks be to God, from the many cases, we forced them to pay the THR. That is the function of labour inspectors,” he concluded.
