Labour Minister urges companies not to withhold workers' diplomas
Medan (ANTARA) - The Minister of Manpower (Menaker) of the Republic of Indonesia, Yassierli, has requested that companies or employers refrain from implementing policies that withhold diplomas from workers or job seekers. “No company may withhold workers’ diplomas,” Yassierli stated after handing over Kemnaker Cares assistance at the Medan Vocational Training and Productivity Centre (BBVP), on Tuesday. He explained that the prohibition on withholding workers’ or labourers’ diplomas is outlined in Ministerial Circular No. M/5/HK.04.00/2025. Therefore, the Minister asked workers to report any companies that implement diploma withholding policies. He emphasised that his ministry would take action in accordance with regulations if any companies stubbornly fail to follow the applicable rules. “Report it. We will follow up. There must be no withholding of diplomas. Absolutely not,” he said. According to him, the training available at the BBVP is highly beneficial for the public in enhancing work skills. “I inspected it directly earlier. I know someone who trained here before, but now he has his own business and employees. This is excellent. This training is a concrete step by Kemnaker in preparing vocational workers in Indonesia,” he stated.
