Labour Minister Signals Gig Driver Eid Bonus Announcement to Coincide with THR Circular Letter
“Alhamdulillah, their response (from the app companies) has been good; they are committed (to providing BHR).”
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, hinted that the announcement or circular letter (SE) regarding the provision of Eid bonus (BHR) for partner drivers of online ride-hailing services will be made simultaneously with the SE on Eid allowance (THR) for workers.
“We will announce it later. Yes, it will be done simultaneously, BHR, THR, and so on,” said the Minister during a press conference in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Furthermore, Yassierli said that the government is currently in communication with application-based transportation service companies operating in Indonesia.
“Alhamdulillah, their response (from the app companies) has been good; they are committed (to providing BHR),” he said.
Regarding the progress of drafting the BHR SE, the Minister, who is also a Professor at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), said that his ministry is also coordinating closely with the Ministry of State Secretariat (Setneg).
“It remains to be seen whether it will be in the form of an SE or a launch event. We are still awaiting coordination with the Ministry of Setneg, and we will announce it together, God willing,” said Minister Yassierli.
The BHR was first introduced through a Circular Letter (SE) from the Minister of Manpower No. M/3/HK.04.00/III/2025 concerning the Provision of Religious Eid Bonus in 2025 for Drivers and Couriers in Application-Based Transportation Services, which was issued in March 2025.
In last year’s SE regarding BHR, the bonus was provided proportionally based on performance in the form of cash, calculated at 20 percent of the average monthly net income over the last 12 months for productive and high-performing application-based drivers and couriers.
In addition, the disbursement of BHR also follows the applicable regulations, which stipulate that it must be provided by the company no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr.
