Labour Minister Reports to Prabowo on Evaluation of National Internship Programme
Labour Minister (Menaker) Yassierli met with President Prabowo Subianto to report on the results of strategic labour programmes, particularly the national internship and vocational training. He stated that the first session of the programme, attended by 14,000 participants, has been completed.
“The first batch of the National Internship has finished, with over 14,000 people. I reported the evaluation results earlier,” said Yassierli at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday (27/4/2026).
Yassierli explained that the outcome of the national internship is that participants receive free certifications from the Ministry of Labour’s training centres. Prabowo, Yassierli continued, responded positively to this.
“So, the first batch internship participants are now preparing for certification to obtain BNSP (National Professional Certification Agency) certificates. I conveyed that, and alhamdulillah, his response was good,” he said.
Regarding plans to increase the national internship quota, Yassierli was not yet ready to discuss it. He stated that the evaluation results and recommendations from the running programme have been conveyed to relevant ministries.
“It will certainly be followed up with other technical ministries, the Ministry of Finance, the Coordinating Ministry for the Economy, and so on,” he said.
In addition to the national internship programme, Yassierli also reported on the implementation of the first batch of national vocational training, which is currently underway. He explained that this programme is designed to reach two target groups.
“So we have a programme for university graduates and also for high school and vocational high school graduates. The number is 10,500 people; I also reported that earlier,” he clarified.
He emphasised that vocational training is one of the strategic solutions in improving the competency of the national workforce. This is also supported by the distribution of Labour Ministry training centres in various regions.
“We already have several schemes and so on, and alhamdulillah, he supports it. And this will become one of our priority programmes in 2026,” he said.
