We must act swiftly to keep the labour market stable. The Ministry of Manpower is preparing an early warning system for layoffs, dialogues with companies and workers, and the acceleration of training and skills enhancement programmes.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Labour Minister (Menaker) Yassierli believes that job opportunities in Indonesia remain open amid global challenges, following several government steps currently being prepared.

Labour Minister Yassierli, in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday, said these steps are important so that job seekers can easily obtain information on vacancies and training that match market needs.

“Indonesia cannot just wait for problems to occur. We must act swiftly to keep the labour market stable. The Ministry of Manpower is preparing an early warning system for layoffs, dialogues with companies and workers, as well as the acceleration of training and skills enhancement programmes,” he said.

To that end, the Labour Minister emphasised that strengthening the national workforce can only proceed through collaboration between the government, the business world, and labour.

Furthermore, Yassierli also highlighted the gap between workers’ competencies and industry needs. According to him, many vacancies are available, but the information and qualifications required are not yet connected with job seekers.

Therefore, he said, companies are asked to report workforce needs through the KarirHub SIAPKerja platform, making recruitment more transparent and accessible to the public.

In addition, he stressed the importance of vocational training aligned with industry needs. He invited stakeholders to directly participate in developing skills for low- to medium-skilled workers, so that training graduates are ready to enter the workforce.

“Besides preparing job opportunities, we are also promoting equal access for people with disabilities. A healthy world of work is not just about growth, but also about fair opportunities for all,” said Yassierli.

The Labour Minister reminded that technological developments, including artificial intelligence (AI), will massively change the world of work.

He assured that the Ministry of Manpower is ready to facilitate companies’ workforce needs so that the labour market is more adaptive, inclusive, and capable of responding to changes.

“All these challenges must be faced together for the stability of the national labour market,” he stated.
