Labour Minister Ensures Social Security Rights for Victims of Bekasi Train Accident are Fulfilled

Labour Minister Yassierli has assured that the social security rights of victims in the accident between the Cikarang Commuter Line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train in Bekasi on 27 April will be fulfilled. “We will continue to monitor this process until all heirs’ rights are met without bureaucratic obstacles,” the Minister stated in Jakarta on Tuesday. He further explained that as of Monday (4/5), nine out of 16 deceased victims in the accident have received social security protection from the government. Minister Yassierli detailed that the total benefits received by the heirs of the deceased victims include Old Age Guarantee (JHT) of approximately Rp197.28 million, Death Benefit (JKM) of Rp42 million, Work Accident Guarantee (JKK) worth Rp2.02 billion, and scholarships for six children with a maximum value of Rp458.5 million. “This is proof that the government is committed to ensuring that social security protection does not stop at the workers but continues to the families left behind. We want to ensure that their children’s future remains secure through scholarships,” said Yassierli. The Minister added that of the nine deceased victims who have received compensation, eight are participants of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan registered at the Jakarta Gambir, Jakarta Salemba, Jakarta Kebon Sirih, Jakarta Ceger, Jakarta Mangga Dua, Grha Jamsostek (DKI Jakarta Regional Office) branches, and one participant at the South Tangerang Branch Office (Banten Regional Office). To date, compensation has been disbursed to heirs in several stages. On 29 April 2026, compensation was given to the heirs of Nuryati and Nur Ainia Rahmadhynna. Meanwhile, for the other three victims, namely Enggar Retno Krisjayanti, Harum Anjarsari, and Vica Acnia Fratiwi, the payment process will be carried out soon after the completion of administrative requirements and confirmation from the heirs. Regarding the status of Ida Nuraida, the government is still conducting further verification to determine the type of benefit to be provided, whether it falls under JKK or JKM.
