Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Yassierli has emphasised the importance for companies to adjust assignments for national internship programme participants according to their respective educational backgrounds. “This adjustment is to ensure the learning process runs more effectively and is able to enhance participants’ competencies optimally,” said Menaker Yassierli in his statement in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, there are still participants with bachelor’s degree backgrounds who have not received assignments matching their education level. He assessed that this situation needs to be improved so that participants can gain more relevant learning experiences aligned with their possessed competencies. For example, Yassierli found internship participants who are S1 graduates placed on tasks deemed not fully reflective of their educational background. In his view, participants with bachelor’s level education should be given tasks more suited to their abilities and competencies. “For S1 graduates, it is best to assign tasks that better represent their education level,” Yassierli stated. In addition to companies, the Minister also reminded national internship participants to maximise this opportunity as a means of learning and strengthening competencies before entering the workforce. He emphasised that the internship period must be undertaken seriously, with discipline and responsibility, to truly provide benefits in enhancing participants’ abilities and work readiness. Yassierli hopes the national internship programme can become an effective means of improving skills, work experience, and participants’ readiness in facing the evolving demands of the job market. Meanwhile, the national internship programme is currently followed by around 100,000 participants spread across various companies, ministries, and institutions. Its implementation is carried out in stages. For stage I, 14,952 participants are scheduled to complete their internship period on 19 April 2026. Participants who complete the programme for 6 months will receive an internship certificate, while those who follow for more than 3 months but less than 6 months will obtain a certificate of participation. For participants, these documents are important as initial provisions to more convincingly demonstrate experience and work readiness.
