Labour Minister: 35% of National Internship Programme Participants Already Employed
Labour Minister Yassierli stated that, according to evaluations, 35% of participants in the National Internship Programme were directly hired by the companies where they undertook their internships. This figure pertains solely to the first batch of participants. The first and second internship batches have been completed, with approximately 14,000 and 62,000 participants respectively, totalling 78,000. This equates to around 4,900 participants directly entering the workforce through the programme. “We also found from the first batch evaluation that approximately 35% of our interns were offered jobs at their placement companies,” Yassierli said during a press conference at the Ministry of Manpower’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026. According to a brief satisfaction survey of the first batch, 85% of participants reported being satisfied or very satisfied, while 14% were moderately satisfied. Only 0.7% expressed dissatisfaction. The ministry also evaluated companies, with 81% of the approximately 4,000 firms reporting satisfaction or high satisfaction, 19% moderately satisfied, and 0.4% dissatisfied. For those who have completed the programme, the ministry offers optional competency certification, which must be completed offline at designated service centres. According to the official website, the ministry aims to facilitate the absorption of national internship alumni (MagangHub) into domestic and international labour markets. This is being implemented through a digital service transition from MagangHub to KarirHub under the SIAPkerja ecosystem. Through this platform, alumni can directly input their portfolios and real-world experience gained during MagangHub into their professional profiles. KarirHub’s Job Matching system automatically aligns their competencies with specific requirements of recruiting companies.
