Labour-Intensive Company in Brebes Absorbs 4,044 Workers to Reduce Poverty
During his visit, Luthfi toured the production area and greeted the employees who were working. The visit received a warm welcome from the workers. They expressed their happiness in working at the company.
“We checked one of the employees earlier, and some receive overtime pay up to Rp 4 million. This is already sufficient for them,” Luthfi stated in his remarks on Thursday (7/5/2026).
As of March 2026, the company, which operates in the footwear manufacturing sector, employs 4,044 workers. This figure consists of 3,274 female workers and 770 male workers. The company targets employing up to 10,000 workers in the coming years.
“We conducted a check at PT Gold Emperor Indonesia, which is a labour-intensive operation. It has around 4,044 employees, producing footwear or shoes that are exported to many countries,” Luthfi said.
PT Gold Emperor Indonesia is a foreign investment company (PMA) headquartered in China. The realised investment of the company from 2024-2025 reached Rp 1.65 trillion.
Luthfi revealed that the company’s investment value might still increase given the current stable conditions in Central Java. The high level of investment, he continued, will influence economic growth in Brebes Regency and Central Java Province.
He emphasised that the incoming investment will also create additional job opportunities. The presence of this investment will support the reduction of the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Central Java and indirectly reduce poverty figures. Moreover, there is currently a push for the establishment of an industrial zone in Brebes Regency.
To that end, Luthfi will continue to develop support for providing competitive labour through vocational schools, polytechnics, and job training centres (BLK).
“We will utilise BLK and vocational schools to provide competitive labour,” he said.
On the same occasion, one of the employees, Tri Dewi Martini, expressed her pleasure in working at PT Gold Emperor Indonesia. In addition to a salary that meets the regency/city minimum wage (UMK), she also receives various facilities such as BPJS and meal allowances.
“There are many perks here, lots of overtime, lots of extra income. UMR salary, plus additions from daily overtime. We work five days, and Saturday is counted as overtime. There’s also attendance allowance, so if you come every day, you get a bonus for attendance,” Tri said.
Amid the growing investments and industries, Tri hopes that Brebes and Central Java can advance even further.
