Police have advised the public or road users to seek alternative routes due to a labour demonstration in commemoration of May Day 2026 in front of the DPR building, Jakarta, on Friday (1/5). “We urge the public to temporarily avoid the DPR/MPR RI area and follow the directions of officers on the ground,” said the Chief of Metro Jakarta Central Police, Kombes Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, in his statement. Reynold also requested drivers to remain orderly and comply with signs and instructions from officers for smoother traffic. “Use the alternative routes that have been prepared and always prioritise safety while driving,” he said. So far, police have closed Jalan Gatot Subroto in front of the DPR building heading towards Slipi. As a result of this road closure, vehicles from the Semanggi direction to Slipi are being diverted via alternative routes such as Jalan Asia Afrika or Jalan Gerbang Pemuda. Meanwhile, vehicles heading to the Senayan area are advised to use alternative routes to avoid congestion. In addition, Jasa Marga and the police are implementing a temporary closure of the Slipi exit at KM 09+650 on the Inner City Toll Road towards Grogol due to the demonstration in front of the DPR building. “At the discretion of the police, starting at 13:26 WIB, the Slipi exit at KM 09+650 on the Inner City Toll Road towards Grogol is subject to situational temporary closure to support smooth traffic management around the event location,” said Senior Manager Representative Office 2 of Jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad, Ginanjar Bekti, in his statement. As a consequence of this temporary closure, road users heading to that area are advised to use alternative exits via the Tomang Toll Gate, Tanjung Duren, or the nearest access according to on-site traffic conditions.
