President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, stated that he has signed a Presidential Regulation for the protection of online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers or operators.

The statement was delivered during a speech at the International Labour Day commemoration at Monas on Friday (1/5).

“Brothers and sisters, we are also regulating… I have signed Presidential Regulation No. 27 of 2026 on the protection of online transport workers, which I mentioned earlier… they must be given work accident guarantees. BPJS health will be provided. Health insurance,” said Prabowo.

“Also, as mentioned earlier, the income distribution from 80 percent for drivers. Now it will be a minimum of 92 percent for drivers,” he added.

Prabowo had previously conveyed his promise to reduce the percentage of income deductions by applicators from ojol drivers or operators.

“Brothers and sisters, ojol work hard. Ojol risk their lives every day. Ojol, the applicator company asks for 20 percent. How about ojol? Agree to 20 percent? 15 percent?” Prabowo asked the workers and labourers present at the International Labour Day 2026 commemoration.

“You ask for 10 percent. I don’t agree with 10 percent, it must be below 10 percent. You (the ojol drivers) sweat it out, they (the applicators) get the money. If you don’t want to follow us, don’t do business in Indonesia,” said Prabowo, immediately met with thunderous cheers from the workers.
