Labour Day: Prabowo Promises Home Instalments Up to 40 Years to Ease KUR
President Prabowo Subianto has stated that he will provide affordable housing, both in terms of location and ease of ownership. Prabowo has even promised that instalments could extend up to 40 years.
Prabowo targets the construction of one million houses this year. These houses are planned to be built near industrial areas, workplaces, and there are plans to develop new cities with housing in the form of apartments.
“New cities in each city might consist of 100,000 apartment units, and I have ordered that there must be schools, sports facilities, daycare centres, hospitals, and most importantly, transportation, whether light rail, buses, so that workers can get to their jobs smoothly and well,” said Prabowo in a speech for Labour Day, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube, reported by detikProperti, Friday (1/4/2026).
Prabowo also highlighted workers’ incomes, 30 per cent of which are used to pay rent. He hopes that workers paying rent can instal their rented homes.
“So, the 30% for rent, we reduce that to instal your own home. If possible, instal over 20 years; if not 20 years, 25 years. If not settled in 25 years, 30 years. If not, 35 years, 40 years, because workers won’t go anywhere. Right? Because farmers and fishermen won’t go anywhere, right?” said Prabowo.
Prabowo also highlighted high bank loan interest rates. He has instructed banks to provide low interest rates for those in need.
“Small people borrow money, the interest can be 70% per year. I have ordered Indonesian banks; soon we will disburse credit for the people at a maximum of 5% per year,” he said.
